This is worth millions of brownie points, I can get just about anything I want now. Won't have any savings left though as it's part one of spending the kids inheritance.

after her hip operations and the drugs have stopped she's realised just how much worse her arthritis is in her foot and hand so I decided she needed an automatic car. She shed a few tears when we sold her last Mini so when I saw just how much space there is in the new Clubman I was sold, There's as much room inside as My A4 estate!

Had to wait 6 weeks for it but when we picked it up last Thursday, the look on her face was priceless.

It's amazing Tom.
A long time since I've driven an automatic except big ones abroad and this is only a 1.5 ltr engine but it's bloody quick and the gearbox is seamless, can seat 4 large adults in comfort and 5 if necessary and the boot is apparently bigger than a Ford focus. Typical Mini (it's her 4th one) it oozes quality. Got all the gizmos as well so should keep her happy for years.

Bit different to the old ex Radio Rentals minivan I had when I was 17 :funny:

A cracking motor Bob. I was looking at one the other day and could not belive the space inside. They have certainly come on a long way since my Mini Days. Mine had sliding Windows and a pull wire for opening the doors.

Nicely done. My missus has the normal Mini Cooper D, lovely bits of kit, sticks to the corners and puts a smile on her face too. I like the look of the new Clubmans myself but wouldn't be able to sell her on one, a dislike of 'estates'.

Great to hear about the interior space and what a nice colour too!

Nice one as you say plenty of brownie points. Now we all know you want a new lathe:whistling::whistling::whistling:.

Mine had sliding Windows and a pull wire for opening the doors.

Mine also had the start button on the floor between the seats:funny:

Worked for Rank Xerox thirteen techs with Mini Vans in the 60,s. I was allowed to keep my own car for years then given a Holden sedan. I was the 5th Tech employed in Australia, the first where I live.

Easy decision for us as we have a 2 year old labrador which I won't allow in my car. needed 4 doors as well as the auto for car seat access for 3 year old granddaughter as well so no brainer. If this had been available 2 years ago I'd never have bought the Nissan Juke which after 3 mini coopers in succession, was poor quality by comparison, didn't help that bits kept falling off and being a very bright yellow, I'd only drive it in the dark. :funny:

I can also identify with the sliding windows and start button btw ( Start button has made a comeback anyway). My van when I got it had nothing in it except 2 seats, a central speedo and steering wheel and I remember regularly having to change the CV joints. Souped it up a bit - must dig out a photo for a laugh.

Me too Jim, my Minivan was the first though I always lusted after my mates' A35. I remember mine cost £129 which as a 17 year old student was my life savings and hard earned part time jobs wages, great though :love_it:
My missus has had a bit of a rough time over the last couple of years and though she rarely complains it opened my eyes a bit to see her having to use a mobility scooter even though only temporarily and now with arthritis it makes you realise you have to do what you can, while you can which we're extremely lucky be able to do within reason.

I don't need to tell you that Jim! Just keep on looking after your other half, my best wishes to you both.

Nice motor Bob. I bet Mrs Lons is still beaming from ear to ear
Yep she is Chas and she actually allowed me to drive it last night. We went to kielder Observatory for a moon / saturn event night, (absolutely brilliant even though too cloudy to see through the scopes the 3 1/2 hours flew by and I'd recommend anyone to go if they get the chance ). It's about 80 minutes each way from us across quiet country roads and the drive was a delight, had a great time.
