    Forgot about these

A some may remember I was given quite a few lumps of Chestnut burrs a while back anyway when I turned a couple of pieces I rough cut the lumps to make it easier to turn and make them a little more balanced for when I turned them.
Not being the type of person to waste wood I cut some into rough pen blanks and stuck them in the airing cupboard and promptly forgot them until yesterday (they had been in there for two months) for I attacked them with a planer to tidy them up some more and cut to a rough blank length. the very short one is ideal for a small single bodied pen so again no waste.
And the end product is what you see, I can see these making some nice pens.

I took the plunge and brought two click pens, one will have one of the blanks on it.

You inspired me to do a click pen half way through it. Planning to vary my theme. I have to reset my gear next week off to the last of three days of the Annual Floriade Festival. The organisers have to relocate after this one. They use a central area and plant hundreds of thousands of plants in portable units each year, a massive task. Got my hospital notice for early next month for another operation. In the mail has many connotations for me.

Good fortune mate with that beautiful timber.

    Peter.
