Blank prep

I marvel at the certainty when using this device I cobbled up using my dedicated 12 inch Disk Sander. Last blank was Plastic now to clean the disk. Dust all over the trimmed blanks and they are ready to rim ream the brass now. These three destined for this or next week.

Many people use this method I also use a metric set of punches as well as an imperial set. On the left hand the Orange colour is the Old Woodfast Lathe I use as a bench and mounted a similar 12 inch Disk Sander on the shaft of the lathe.

What are the woods either side of the spalted piece? The darker one looks like that will be a real beauty when turned.

All three will Paul the lighter Citrus blank ,the Honduran Rosewood and the NG Rosewood Burl.The dark one hardest to photograph.

Previous squaring I used a block of wood with a piece of mandrel for 7mm but making sleeves to fit other kits was tedious but a cheaper way to get going.
