I pay cash always have except for mail order or overseas where I use Paypal or when I can straight into someones account. So many places do not accept cash anymore.

When we had our Studio the only accounts we had were for our purchases, pain in the bum. Echo.

Just glad I don't have to do anything like that. Glad you got it all done and out of the way until next time:banana::banana::banana:
Nope. VAT to do at the end of the month.

You'd have finished sooner if you didn't waste all of your time talking on the phone to troublemakers ne'er-do-wells in Ameri-cay.

Sadly, these days Peter, it's frowned on if you only claim for expenses and don't pay any taxes because you've hidden your income under the matress.:whistling:

Its a rather chilling thought that some of the earliest known writing concerns tax returns. I suspect that people were grumbling about it even then, nothing really changes. I cannot remember the precise quote but someone said the only certainties are death and taxes!

As a careful business man in 1974 I was as a Council Alderman invited to go to Spokane in Washington State as a guest of the American Govt at my expense so I took most of a month and Wilma ran the Studio and six kids. I kept an itinery of my visits to all the cities I visited where I looked up Photo Studios and exchanged methods etc. The Worlds Fair was in full swing in Spokane at the same time as the Lilac Festival I was invited to go over for as I was on the Executive of the Goulburn Lilac Festival as President for a few yrs. The fares etc and a percentage of my costs were debited from my income that year a win win for me. Shortly before returning I called into a Sister City in El Cajon, a bus ride from San Diego where the Mayor gave me a key to the City and offered me two years free rent in the huge Mall complex he owned in that City. Before leaving home it was impressed on me not to ever make arrangements to return to live in the US. I was sorely tempted I can tell you. Returning to San Diego still on my one quarter bUS bus ticket I stopped into Tijuana , in Mexico and photographed 5 Bull fights there. What I learned before I left home was you pay for X miles with your air fare so most of the extra journeys were covered by that return fare at that time.

My simple bookkeeping with all my receipts given and received enabled over the 5 yrs I was in the Studio to receive a full Audit from our Taxation Dept. When the guy arrived I told him it was not convenient without notice and gave him a future date,he agreed but when he came back the pompous person said his costs etc plus plus will be covered by us before he leaves in discoveries he would make. He left after a day and a half with empty pockets (for me complete justification for paying cash). I had a very close friend who claimed watchdog expenses for dog food and mice eradication for cat food and cleaning supplies for luncheon meals .Perish the thought.
