UK platter blank supplies? Any recommendations?

I want to practice platter turning.

So I don’t want or need expensive woods

Any recommendations for reasonably priced suppliers?

I am just about to shed a massive amount of timber simply because I have far too much. I bought the retirement stock of a professional turner last year, which coupled with the vast amount of wood I've collected myself over the years, means that, well, I've got too much. It won't be at bargain basement prices, but it will be at fair prices, so if you have an idea of the sort of sizes you are after, I'm more than happy to see if I have anything that might fit the bill.

Down my end we have Stiles and Bates who cut and mill there own timber....worth a look!

Off cuts of kitchen worktops make good platters. Have a word with your local fitters or keep an eye on freecycle.

Andy I keep my eye on bamboo boards making jigs lately,they are weighty and strong. Platters vary from mini to major,first consideration.
