I wonder if anyone can help. I had some classic pen kits which had unassembled centre bands that were handy for replacing the black plastic with colour options or turning with a contrasting highlight. But can't remember where I got them ,does anyone have an idea.

Craftpro is Axminster Tools. However, their Classic is a knock off of the PSI Classic, so you could try Penn State Industries. I don't know either model intimately enough to know if the centre band is customisable I'm afraid.

The Classic and the Classic Elite (PSI) do NOT have removable center rings on the cap opening inserts. (I think the black band you see is actually the outside of the inner threaded sleeve. The two contrasting sleeves appear to be pressed on.) I have purchased every version of that pen in every quality range with the hope of finding one that allowed for this, but to no avail - I really like the size and shape of the pen, so I have tinkered with disassembly. The only capped pen I have found that allows this other than the Mistral (per Phil's note) is Berea's "Baron" and other knock-offs of the same design.

Good luck with your search.

Just a quick update. I found that the pen kit I was looking for was a classic flat top from Turners retreat. I put this in my notes for future reference.
