While I am working on the pierced bowl and doing the painting rather than just sitting and watching it do so i thought I would start another project.

This is a vase the top and bottom are not yet glued together as different woods can move at different rates even through the process of just turning them. I have left these for a couple of days and should glue and decorate tomorrow.

Now while waiting for this one should I start another:whistling::whistling::whistling:

Nice bit of Oak, Nice bit of ? Maple? I wish I had a record lathe that could turn vertically.... Tell me is the bowl hollow? and if it is does the tube match into the hollow? If so respect for that length. :thumbs::thumbs::thumbs::thinks:

It is Laburnum and maple. The bowl is hollow as well as the neck and they do match inside.

I find it easier to take a photo on the lathe and turn it before finishing as I can get a better idea of the final shape than I could if it is on the lathe horizontally

Hi Derek,

that looks superb.

On first look, I thought it was going to be a table lamp and was more than impressed.

On second look, I still think it would look superb as a table lamp.....

Anyway it looks superb !!!!

Best wishes - Jim:thumbs::banana::winking::drool::ciggrin::fart::thumbs::wink::love_it:
