    Odd jobs

This is the first of some of the odd jobs that need doing around the workshop.

I was given this vice and thought that before I find a home for it that a little cleanup and repaint was in order.

A before during and after photo. Smooth Hammerite paint was pretty close to the original Record colour

The old vices are the best. I bought my Record vice many years ago when they were made in England of cast steel.

    Looks great Derek.
Are you trying to put pressure on me, first I got to make a couple more pens than you, now I have to finish of the vice I started to restore.

I started when it was to hot, when it cooled down I spend a lot of time going up and down the track to see the quacks.
Once I got that sorted I had to go down south to look after my father, got home a couple of days before Christmas.
Now its hot as hell again.

    Super job Derek.

I have my late father in law's vice in a box somewhere, still awaiting some attention. It's very similar to yours from memory - you may have inspired me to get on the case.
