Well nothing is straight forward with this hobby it seems,

The new minefield I seem to be tip-toeing through is the one of blue towelling, the more I search for a good price the more put off I become,
There are loads of differing versions out there.
For those of you that use them what is your go-to type and where do you get them from? I will be looking for them to use when putting a CA finish on the pens.
Please help :praying:

Lots of varieties of blue towel at loads of different prices. Don’t use any of them! I prefer using trifold high quality white, paper towel, same stuff as you find in high quality toilets. Mind you, I don’t go along with ripping the towel into little squares, lining copious amounts of these little squares in a line, and then diluting the CA with BLO, and then wasting inordinate amounts of time in a quest for supposed quality putting this mix on in up to twenty coats.

Nope, use the white stuff which is in my opinion easier to use, it’s precut in rectangular shapes that roll up into a convienient size and then with practice you can apply an even neat coat, twice and then polish back.

I don’t use blue towel as I’ve had the blue dye transfer to the timber. I don’t use any particular type, I use what’s available. It’s not important to me except that it’s white.

I assume you are using CA on wooden blanks. You don't use CA on acrylics.
I get mine from Arco or B&Q. We use them at work in the kitchen and the labs so all ways a good supply. Kitchen paper towel rolls are just as good or even 2 ply toilet paper. I think you are over thinking it again. It does not have to be blue roll.

Don't use blue paper towelling for CA gluing, just use plain white kitchen towels. At a push I have used white toilet paper in the past. The blue dye can come out and into the glue and once on, nobody can get it off. It also can get into the grain of the wood.

I rarely use CA for finishing now a days so in reality it doesn’t really effect me. :nooidea:

That said I only use and have always used blue paper towels.

I have used the old white 3 ply when I have run out but that has been rarely and TBH never really considered it to be any better or worse when used. :nooidea:

Do a google search for white centrefeed roll. That's what I use. Cm for cm it's far cheaper than the blue folded sheets that used to be popular, and it has the added advantage that it's white, not blue
