Rather than hi jacking The thread of Terry's I thought it be best to start another thread and let's open it up to whoever has the experience.
My experience is that I have only been allowed to supply recognised ink suppliers and it has only been a fountain pen to sign the important bit of paper.
Either that or they have supplied the ink and I have filled the pen in front of the registra.
There is an ISO standard ISO 12757-2.
I was given this link today of the list of available refills to that standard

..
However, it appears after much research that even the Ecclesiastical out there do not fully up understand the rules, so there is no hope for us.

After discussions I have had in my local area and supplied pens for the special occasion I have had to use this ink.
Ecclesiastical Stationery Supplies Registrars Ink Blue-Black With Iron-Gall
The local registrars office I had contacted previously also advised the above ink.
I also understand that the art work tend to want this type of ink for a obvious reasons so is driven by them quite a bit.
This is a thread for debate and open for what you have experienced it's not to say any one of us is right or wrong, just to see what experience there is out there.
Any comments or experiences of the forum members would be greatly appreciated.
I guess over the pond or down under may be different, that would be good to see and share.
Even better if we had a registrar or two..
Look forward to the replies..
