Finally got round to turning one of Phil's Sirocco's to show off my coffee bean blanks, don't think I could have chosen a better kit for it.

VERY striking! Questions from the novice: Are you applying a finish to the turning? (I have no experience with coffee beans in this application, though I am good for about fifteen cups a day in the more traditional one.) I know the casting material will buff out, but coffee beans are really oil-filled Masonite! Also (and forgive me because I don't know everyone well yet), can I assume that you sell these blanks? PM me with a link if you do.
This is a sharp pen, and I don't normally go in for the "less-traditional pen blanks," but...as I said...fifteen cups a day and I have made five hundred pens and never one for myself. You might have just brought me over to the dark side! Beautiful work. Good for you!

Thanks Greg, I've used a CA finish on this one! mainly because the beans used in this blank were unstabilised, I will be adding the blanks for sale on my website www.penblanksandmoulds.co.uk on the weekend, they will be available in generic unstabilised beans, plus also available cast with stabilised coffee beans from your favourite coffee shop starting with Costa, Neros & Starbucks.

That pen is one good advert for the blanks:drool:

THANKS Peter
I'm hoping so, as I've heard a lot of stories of chip out & flying beans with coffee bean blanks, but I've never had a single chip out or flying bean on a single one of my own blanks that I've turned, even the unstabilised.

Do me a kindness and PM once they hit your site. Long way around the world to get coffee beans and plastic, but these are very fine. Any chance you'll offer in a round blank at some point? PM with details. Great work, mate.

My experience with beans is they disintegrated over time so I think stabilising could avoid this.I found fuzz that looked like borers leave over time.
