Hi.

Those of you who read my "Introduce Yourself" will know that whilst I make pens from kits using acrylics I particularly like making pens from other materials. Now that I am getting back into the hobby after a bit of a layoff I am posting some photos of pens made by me a couple of years ago.

Having made the Golf Shaft pen for a friend, based on Brendan Wong's idea on IAP, I looked around for an idea to make a pen and pencil set for my eldest son. As he loves working on old cars I wanted to make something appropriate. I came across Steven Jackson's web site Skiprat Pens - Home Page and from there found his Youtube video of making a pen from a bolt.

I liked the idea very much and thought that I could tweak it slightly. The result is a pen and pencil set made from stainless bolts using an Atrax kit and a Toolbox / Artist pencil kit. Twist the bolt head on the pen and the tip extends, Push the bolt head in on the pencil and the mechanism operates as intended.

Excellent work again Bill.

I have seen them done a few times before and shown on the IAP..

Steven Jackson (Skiprat) i think was the first time I saw do them, he is always inspiring on the IAP and his out of the box thinking is tremendous.

Thanks Eamonn.

You are totally right, Steven was the inspiration for them - the man is a genius!
