After seeing Stewart Furini demonstrating colouring at South Downs Woodturners and seeing the inspiring work of Alan Wesley and Peter Brown - and with even Mike Waldt going over to the "dark side".... decided to try this colouring lark! A gift for a friends 60th birthday. Oak airbrushed with chestnut spirit stain and finished with acrylic lacquer.

Nice job, lovely colours and a good finish. I'm not normally a fan of coloured stuff but that's turned out well.

A well thought out bowl I like the fact that you framed the red using the black it sets it off so many just colour straight to the edge. be careful as it can become very addictive and end up covering some interesting grain.

Thanks Derek! I am still very early in my woodturning hobby.. been turning for a year this month. Trying to keep an open mind to all possibilities and techniques... I am definitely going to keep on experimenting with colour, but nothing pleases me more than the beauty of natural wood.
