First ever natural edge using a small crotch branch from an unknown tree in the garden. It's only 3" high and 2" across. It's already being claimed as a ring holder by my wife, Alison! Just need a decent log to have a go at something bigger now. [emoji6]

A great start to natural edge turning. Shopping for wood take the missus for a picnic in the nearest scenic woodlands hide the saw in the car first so she can't see it. Only take the fallen trees and logs. OOPS did I really suggest doing that. Seriously phone a few tree surgeons or landscape people you never know.

I know a couple of people (professional gardeners)that might be able to help me out thanks for the suggestion. I found a slightly bigger bit from an old apple tree in my wood store so going to try that next.

Even when you don't have a planned project keep your eyes open. All the wood in my store now is all from free sources. This is one of my stores and the last lot I collected but it just shows there is free wood out there just keep your eyes open as well as your ears for the sound of chainsaws

Honestly I just can't help it I hate to see homeless pieces of wood and just want to give them shelter and a nice coat of varnish to protect them:funny::funny::funny:

I started a couple of days ago but the weather turned back to miserable to organise my sheds. I may shock you and take pics from here and there to show how unmerciful my obsession is on timber. Spring broke and as usual takes time to steady, bummer really. I have the trailer on standby, so many preciouses. Celebrated Fathers day yesterday, been given a week when I can do no wrong at ours. Last year I extended this privilige to Wilma with a one week birthday. Take care my friend.

Peter.
