I had a bit of turning disaster yesterday not only did I manage to glue my bushings in to a tube my head stock and tail where out of line and I managed to turn don to the tube on one side of the blank.
So I spent the early part of today realigning the centres then decided to take a break from the Lathe and get Jigsaw out to make a jigsaw template to make some table boards for my dad for xmas.
I had a gorgeous piece of quarter sawn oak with some lovely Meldullary lines. I used the bandsaw to cut the board to length, roughed it out on the bandsaw and finally routed to the template then rounded over. a quick sand to 240 and their first coat of drechslerol (a bit like osmo).

Oh you want to see?

Okay

Dad loves to entertain so these are a nice table decoration. They also hold a wine glass in the concave section or can be used for party foods. though i would probably make them thinner if this was a genuine second purpose
