Today I mostly be making handles for my long hole boring shell augers.
One restored 3/8" given to me by my good friend Neil Lawton and fitted with a mahogany handle and a new Record Power 5/16" fitted with an ash handle. Wood is just off cuts from around the workshop, ferrules are Ashley Iles ones.

Seeing these you remind me that I keep promising to make a handle for my record one. Did yours have the flat diamond shaped tang on the end, if so I presume you took this down to fit into the handle.

Nice job by the way:thumbs:

Nope, the tang stops the auger from revolving in the handle. I just drilled out to the diameter of the shaft then hammered the tang in with a soft headed mallet and the shaft held in a vice with soft jaws.

It was that on mine the tang seems wider than the ferrules on your handles maybe should go and measure it again:wink:
