I have been asked to make a lady figure from some yew and not having ever done one before thought I would do a quick practice, even then I have taken it right through to the finish.

Body is Ash and the hat is Laburnum it stands 6b 1/4" tall and 2" at its widest point. Finished with sander sealer and buffed on the Chestnut system.

Now you can get your own back KevinMc :funny::funny::funny: Hope you get a good feed back from the club tonight

You now have a problem Dereck.
Trying to make another lovely piece that matches this one.
Good luck.

Does not matter if it matches as they are not going to be a pair the other one is going to be bigger. it would not be a problem if I wanted to make another exactly the same.

Oh well I think that hat should be 3mm smaller
:funny::funny::funny:

Club night well as normal it appeared that only I took anything in and only Bill Mooney gave me any feedback and advice he is a great help..so quality over quantity I say..
Might try another club...Northumberland maybe.

It nearly was bigger but just did not look right, I now know why I save all those little offcuts as they come in handy for things like the hat

That is a shame when nobody bothers there is so much that can be learnt from other members when they all participate. Luckily our club is pretty good as we have three classes and a good 20 items plus being entered altogether.
And a lot of banter even towards the professional turners we have in.
This is our CLUB Events for this year they better watch out for the demo on the 15th of August:funny::funny: they put me down for Decorating but that is not firm at this point
