Just finished this Chestnut Burr today it stands 6 1/2" tall by 6 1/2" across. Finished with sander sealer and satin lacquer, I then gave it a wax with woodwax22 as the satin finish was not what I wanted but the high gloss would have been too glossy.
All body parts kept in the safe zone behind the toolrest

I have said this before and no doubt will be saying it again. Derek, you never cease to amaze me. This is a very clever and classy piece of work.
If I only had a tenth of the skill you have, I would be a happy man.

I would love to know where you obtained the wood though  nice piece.

Well done.

Cheers
Frederick

It is all down to practice Frederick. I was given about 8 or 9 pieces of burr some of it quite large by another turner friend of mine
