I thought I would have another go and cut the top off one of the Normann Fir non-needle drop Xmas tree. It is almost fully seasoned, quite wormy and was fairly straight so not as much off-centre cutting and it is more turned than I would have liked. I was making a very fine finial when it snapped just at the end of the finial you see. Fortunately the mandrel saver was just the right size to snug up so that I could finish.

Man alive Peter! The detail in there is amazing:bravo:

Don't look too close you will see the poor finishing. If you look at the handle in the first shot you will see the hole where I halved a woodworm that was cowering:sob:

Nice one I have not made one for over a year for a harry potter film extra got me thinking starting again :thumbs:
