I have been using thin Chestnut CA to finish my pens with excellent results. Having ran out of this I bought some thin ZAP CA and I find the finish no where near as good ie I find parts of the blank shiny and other parts as though I'm looking at bare wood after I have used micromesh. Is ZAP a poor CA or is it me? I bought the stuff from Snainton so I assumed it would be ok and because it was in 50gm bottles as opposed to Chestnuts 20gm bottles.:thinks::thinks:

Never used it Terry, so i can't comment, but i would have thought the CA would spread evenly ... :thinks: How many coats did you give it ... :nooidea:

I don't see why it shouldn't be Terry, maybe their medium would be better for a CA finish ... :nooidea:

What kind of wood? Some woods will do that no matter what brand you use. Last time it happened, I had to take off all the finish, clean the blank with denatured alcohol and start over. It worked OK after using the DNA. I can't remember the wood...maybe cocobolo. :thinks:
