Just need some bendy drills now
I cut some 30 Apple blanks last week and put some on the radiator and some have curved in two planes, fortunately I cut them to about 8" so can still get some straight bits out of them.

Tasmania has has Musk Burl that can contortion itself useless if you can manage to dry it to useable it is beautiful. Six of those will still make two piece pens well worth saving I reckon.

When they dry like that it usually means interesting grain.
I'd have a go at them. When cut for slimlines they may still work out ok.

I had my peepers lasered 9 years ago so I'm not so bad, it's other bits like knees and back that are crumbling 
When you look around though you realise just how lucky you are, one of my golfing partners is 52 and has parkinsons so slowly deteriorating. The bu**er takes so many pills I insist on a dope test if he beats me.

These are highly figured crotch pieces, and I did expect this to happen. I'll still be able to use these as originally intended as they were cut to produce Zeta blanks for my own use. There's enough meat left in them to cut and square the blanks to drill them.
