Most people get depressed at the location here where a whole colony of blue rens inhabit the area but I love it because of them. Love your wren mate.I salute the male who takes care of several females in his harem.

Peter.

Are blue wrens peculiar to Canberra because I never saw any while living in Orange for 12 years?
Why do your neighbours not like them?

They are fellow visitors to the Canberra Cemetery all around the Crematorium, when I was a kid in Canberra in the 1940,s they were everywhere. What with mongrel people who free range their domestic Cats etc these beautiful birds really suffer. We have kept up to nine cats at a time since1955 and when the penny dropped for us we made our main yard cat free. We currently have two cats and two dogs. In some new suburbs in Canberra Cat laws are mandatory and strictly enforced in an attempt to reduce the losses of small animals and native birds. I thought Canberra was cold until I went out to Orage mate, working with Civil Aviation the Nav Aids in Mt Canobolas were snowbound and almost inaccessible at times, once up there ice had formed in the locks and it was days f before they thawed out. I know it sounds like we are sooks but my Idea of discomfort would be to live in snow country. My son has come to live in Canberra after a fair while out of Alice Springs and feral cats out that way are enormous. As I grew up the Blue Wrens arrived every year,we looked forward to seeing them.

Thanks for the info Peter. You seem to have been around the block a few times, professional photographer, and now civil aviation. Interesting about the cat laws in Canberra, that must be something recent.
The climate in Orange suited this north-western European, and my blood seemed to suit the local mosquitoes.
