Whilst in Keswick yesterday, "Her Indoors" and I called in at G & S Specialist Timbers at Stainton. Apart from buying some wood and not buying a lot of wood I would have liked to. I bought this -

Now all I need to do is learn how to use it as "Her indoors" has lots of ideas for me to make toys for her grandchildren :rolling:

Nice one Chas!
Those nasty Acrylic guards are now fitted as standard. In some cheaper models they actually are used to replace the foot.
As a home user, you are not obliged to use it, and I would take it off at your earliest convenience. All they do is stop you seeing what you are trying to cut!
Have fun with the new toy:thumbs:
Regards,
Neil

Chas, could you do a sort of review when you have used it, the normal things like ease of use changing blades, blower, vibration anything you can think of, I was thinking of going for this one too.

Chas her indoors at my place seems like forever ago prevailed on me in a similar fashion so I converted my Budgie Breeding room over to a workshop for her and bought several cheaper versions of scroll saw then got carried away bought a Hegner for 1200.00 of our dollars for her thinking wow what latent talent she displayed for things mechanical. As a great artist and craft worker she surpassed herself in every way we had Cats hanging off door frames, letter holders, Cats peering around corners, so many beautifully crafted presents for the family, the only machine she nearly shunned was the Hegner (mutter mutter under breath) she found it took so much time making internal cuts. I gave her a home made long sanding belt she used all the time with dust extraction. Dremel also made a tinny saw used pin blades she found irresistable you just squeezed it and the blade removal was instant she used to distraction. I noticed one day an extreme sensitivity occured on two fingers she must have fed them under the restraining cross piece of the sander put there to avoid this happening and lost a few whorls. After years one day she said enough and gave all the saws and the shed back to me and went onto different things I still have saws parked here and there. The Wood Guild I am a life member of has a special interest group of great strength some noteable experts specialised in antofret that involves cutting at an angle a shape often in metals and inserting patterns of the removed bits and for many years cleaned up the best in show for many miles around most noteable was a Nautilus Shell. The next club meeting I see this guy at I will try to get a pic of one or more of his creations, also at a recent art show called Hand Made here in my City I took a couple of pics of a visiting guys creations who has only been scrolling for a while yet you might like to see them.

Kind regards Peter.
