wife has claimed the red, i;ll have the green.

found these last night while i was tidying up. 2x mahogany, 2x Oak, 2x Tulip

not good enough for pen blanks (too thin - from a mix bag of end pieces and offcuts)
red will make it to some nice cufflinks
green/white might make a pen if i can work something out.
the rest of the offcuts - something will happen to them im sure. i originally bought the bag to see how well i get on with the material.

This is the vintage Portass i mentioned on the "introduce yourself" thread. long way off from getting it going but slowly getting there.
my MT0 live centre arrived, and a 775 motor for something else also arrived so im going to try running it from the 775 to see if its powerful enough when i have the time. I still need to find a few things but im in no rush as i will have this working by the time i have the space to use it.

the purple one is great, really annoyed that its too thin for a pen - but i do have a couple of ideas for it, probably a pendent or something similar.

12mm for a slimline?
most of the offcuts are the trimming ends from the casts that the seller i bought them from does as they put them through the table saw to square everything off. there are a few that would fit a slimline pen kit but most wouldnt.

i'll have to measure them as some can be uneven but that's a good shout. i'll measure these all up so i have an idea.

Those grapevine hybrids are going to look great when they're turned.

Looking forward to seeing how you tackle the wee lathe restoration too:thumbs:
