Hi All,
I had to think where to post this one...
Borrowed from another turner, this required no turning just reswaging the case mouth.... I have some rollerballs to do, which will require an internal sleeve...
Just a bit different I think😁😁. 50BMG IMG_20230206_170144.jpg

Hi Mark
Interesting.
Thanks for that.
I have lots of .50 Caliber once fired cases they have been sitting under a bench waiting to be used. This could be the solution.
Do you know what size your freind swaged the necks to for the fountain pen.
Do you know what size the case neck needs to be swaged to to acomadate the rollerball. I might be able to do that for you. Not promising any thing it depends on what size you need them to be. But if I can I will. Does that make sense ?.
It would cool if you could send me one of the cases your freind has swaged for you to get a measurement.

Hi Alpha,
As a full bore rifle shooter and previously pistol shooter I amassed a collection of reloading implements and indeed as I have friends who are RFDs....
The swageing I am referring to is where the brass fitting on the coupler is too big by a couple of thou, you could just turn this off as brass is soft(ish) but as I have an expanding neck die I just open it up a fraction( to get a friction fit) insert the threaded coupler and seat crimp as I would a bullet.
Alternatively you could turn a 12mm dowel fit the coupler and glue this into the cases...
The rollerball is a sloppy fit already so I will be taking the above approach and using an appropriate sized brass washer on the collar. It needs something internal to support the refill and spring so seems the most logical approach....
Watch this space🙏🙏

I use L E Wilson bushing dies with an Arbor press to size case necks. I also have a full set of Sinclair type neck expanders made for me by a Gunsmith.
