Hi Frederick.
That “walnut” pen looks different
Looking good.
Have you found what you would do different on your next pen?
What did you do for final finish?
It’s one big learning curve.

Hello Dave
I did make the walnut pen but for some reason it developed a very large black patch which was rather ugly. I did finish it and it worked ok but not pleased with it al all, so technically speaking this is my second effort I suppose. Thanks for the kind words though.
I am going to have a shot at making my own blanks using saw dust and shavings; see how that turns out. Have to work on the moulds etc first.
Cheers

Forgot to say, the finish was a series of micromesh pads. Very good I think but they are not cheap.
After that a couple of applications of burnishing cream which, I think, did the job.
Was thinking of CA glue, but I think it was that which upset the Walnut. Not sure what happened there though.
Regards
Frederick
A pretty good first pen I would say Frederick. I'm not sure I get the dark bit at the front end though. Is that port of your kit or is that part of your blank?
You might want to start a new thread with this pen. Lots of people will have looked at this thread and maybe stopped visiting it if they're not part of the ongoing dialogue. If you post it in the "show off your pens" subforum, I'm sure many more folks will see it and be happy to comment.![]()
