In another thread (Finishes for wooden pens) , hawkeyefxr mentioned he would like to get a collett chuck, so, thought I would show the one I have been using it is the Axminster Junior Chuck and can be seen at Axminster Junior Chuck - Chucks - Woodturning Chucks - Lathe Accessories - Machinery Accessories - Accessories | Axminster Tools & Machinery.

The chuck comes complete with 3 collets including the 6mm - 7mm one, which you need for pen mandrel bars. you then of course just order the size rod you need, or use the old ones from your mandrel sets. The chuck is available in 3 different threads to suit many modern lathes or you may need to use an adaptor, my Jet lathe as a T38, M33 x 3.5mm and can be seen mounted and about to be used on the bottom photo.

I have found it to be a great boon when used with the mandrel saver, quick to change and remains true. IMHO a good quality & reliable product.
