I have been threatening to do this for a long time, finally got around to do it.
Biggest hold up was HSS, cobalt drills and end mill's wouldn't cut through the hardened stainless steel of the calipers, finally the carbide end mill arrived and it went through like hot knife though soft butter.

I need another collet chuck the MT3 to MT2 adaptor is to long and front heavy, and bloody awkward.

I like that. may have a go at doing something similar for accurate drilling. what is the red part- just something to connect the duo to the quill?

They are steering linkages for RC cars, something like in link below.

I bought two separate linkages without the adjusting bit in the centre, cut the head of a bolt off and tightened them up with a dob of CA for lock-tight. My lathe is a 9 X 20 so every mm is precious.
