Yes quite right. We have a portable AC unit for the house but I generally don’t drag it out of the cupboard unless we get more than two or three days of “summer”.

What unit do you have and does it do the job?

Itís an Amcor, an older version of this one.

Amcor 3.5kW | Hire Portable Air Conditioner | Same Day Delivery

Yes it does help when itís really hot. The only problem is you need somewhere to put the hot exhaust pipe and the pipe itself is not very long on these units.

To be honest if we got two or three weeks of really hot weather every year Iíd buy a proper Air Conditioning unit for the living room, they arenít desperately expensive the last time I looked.

I use a dehumidifier rather than aircon. My rationalle is that it's the humidity that kills you, and if the air is dry the heat is more tolerable. I get to use it all year round too, because most days you don't need aircon but there is always a need to keep a dry atmosphere in good ol' Blighty
