    Afternoon Ian,

My preference would be the Axminster - great little lathe with enough weight not to walk and shake.

But I would suggest moving up a little to the at350 - more expensive no doubt but you get inverter variable speed which means the torque is constant. Question is do you want to upgrade again in a few years, or get the lathe to grow into.

Depends on your budget and turning profile I guess.

    Either way, enjoy.

    Regards,
    Chriscb

I don't know anything about the Record though I have one of the Axminster 300 series.
Very happy with it and the variable speed is just a turn of a dial, no adjusting belts.
More than adequate for pen turning and maybe small bowls / platters
