Senior management wants me to make her a vase but wants it for fresh flowers so it needs to hold water. I was thinking of using part of a plastic bottle and turning the vase to suit. Any ideas?

Yep that makes sense.
I use for slim vases my Drains old sterident containers like a test tube inside the vase.

I have 3 wooden vases that Vi uses for fresh flowers two have large vases in and one has an ordinary 1/2 pint glass in it I can post some photos if you wish
A lot of turners use the type Doug has shown some even have the glass vase standing taller than the wood

Thanks gents, it looks like a trip to Ikea in Warrington

Or the pub and ask for old glasses.
Your first suggestion was a good one cut a plastic bottle up.
The ones I use sterident tubes for are just a single flower or two at restaurant tables.

I'll keep the steradent tubes in mind Brian as its a good idea for the smaller vases to use timber up.

Keith the more I read and hear of Ikea I wish they would hurry with their building here in Canberra those pictured vessels from them show great promise using fresh flowers can be weighty and any additional weight and strong base should ensure safety in the house where we normally go thinnish on vase shapes some sort of poly interior treatment would help the vase as well many a slip putting water in. I will be interested how you tackle this, no greater reward than pleasing SWMBO.

Kind regards Peter.:goesred:
