Got a good day coming up Saturday. Drive from Wrexham to Knottingley to call and see Jim then on to Snainton. Not too sure what I'm going to get but I haven't bought any tools for at least a month so there's bound to be something I don't really need. Will definitely pick up some thuya burr blanks though and I want to have a look at the chestnut buffing system. Then on to Knaresborough for fish and chips and stock up on Yorkshire curd tarts then back to Wrexham. Days don't get better than that. The wife might enjoy it as well.

Inspired by this thread I've been trying to talk SWMBO in to a trip up to Snainton so have been googling directions, I was a little shocked to find it's the best part of 100 miles :noway1:

Which then got me thinking how far it is for you Keith, from a quick search it looks to be the best part of 160 miles :eeeeek::eeeeek:

This place must be well worth a visit if you're willing to drive well over 300 mile round trip, I definitely want to go now :thinks::thumbs:

Correct Doug its over 300 miles round trip but as I'm away all week its grand for me and Lorraine to get away just the two of us for a day. It helps that she loves North Yorkshire too and as long as we call at Knaresborough for fish and chips she's happy. When you decide to go give me a shout and if we've nothing planned we'll nip over and meet you.

Snainton is my local, so to speak, (less than 30 miles) though as a non driver it is a hell of a push bike ride!:funny:

I still buy most of my machinery , tools, and consumables from them, regardless of internet shopping.
They are a small family business that offer great value and service.
They do stock a great range of that strange "plastic" stuff that some of you use for pens, and now have a bigger range of exotic woods.
The "Jewel in the crown" though, is the woodstore. They process, season, and sell their own British hardwood blanks at very reasonable prices.
I don't normally buy wood, as I've said before, but I needed a easy bowl blank for a 15 year old girl to turn as part of her GCSE project.
£4.00 for a 6" Lime blank!
Phil is coming for the bandsaw tomorrow Keith, Feel free to drop into York if you have the time.
Regards,
Neil
