There is hardly anything in the world that some man cannot make a little worse and sell a little cheaper, and the people who consider price only are this man's lawful prey. (John Ruskin 1819-1900)

I notice references to Apple wood here where I live there is a very long term apple orchard grower who warned me over twenty years ago to be very careful using orchard wood as the trees have been sprayed with sometimes long term residual sprays that find their way through the ground and on the tree over the years giving a concentrated effect cumulative if you like, he is also a turner and an intellectual man. For me there are literally thousands of choice timbers available however because they grow on trees are not cheap as chips.

Kind regards in the elusive quest. Peter.
