I suspect most of the money is in the fence - If i was you Jim i'd make your own table - Two pieces of T track a bit of hinged kitchen worktop and an ABS insert.

You have to understand the amount of R+D that goes into these things, and that is always reflected in the price!

It says precision in the title. This usually means that there is a non adjustable measure on it somewhere that has to be accurately placed at least 1.653mm out (with a 25% tolerance), this is not easy to do.
The nasty pressed steel frame has to be lovingly burred to achieve maximum laceration, whilst fumbling about underneath to adjust the router.
This then leads the purchaser to buy the new frame guard at £70. (A piece of pipe lagging).
This problem can also be alleviated by buying the fine height adjuster at £35 (A piece of threaded bar, that will only fit the £400 router they will be selling soon!)

For that sort of money you can get the triton router table and the triton RTA300 half inch router, plus change.

They are expensive for its excellent additional features, safety improvements, and portability. The compact architecture provides flexibility and improved functionality.

Kreg models for carrying out different kinds of carpentry applications for improving the performance with precision to build marvelous woodwork.

Buying a kreg table can be confusing. When i bought my kreg table i am so confused to whether purchase it or not. There was no one who can properly guide me its features, there reviews , their description , their pros and cons.
But now situation is changed, there is many articles, video which complete info of these routers. Now you can check everything related to it. You can read that articles also to get rid of your doubts - Kreg Router table review. I must say these router tables are value for money

That is what I have plus the Triton Router with the wind-up handle and finger joint jig and I am sure I would still have change from the Kreg option

6 year old post reborn! :waver:

As for router tables and my experience over the last 10 years or so.

I have one, but TBH it’s only ever used for wood edge work, like rounding or t&g or specialist edging for corners and rebating for frames.

The true thing that has versatility for me is a router sled, Home made and can do all of the above and more besides.

I started off with a very crude wood sliders, then draw bearing runners and then on to rails. So much easier and better control with a plunge router.
I would say the sled for me is amongst the most used pieces of kit in my workshop. That and the band saw.
