Walking the dog

I was out walking the dog and passed this house.....there was a Huge and i mean Huge pile of fresh cut logs outside. Great big lumps way to big for my lathe but i spied some smaller bits. A knock on the door and a kind word to the lady and i walked away (well drove) with two pieces about 12x12 and quartered. I siad if i managed to get a bowl out of one piece i would let her decide if she wanted it. I was told it was Spanish Oak.
It's not like English Oak, very light, it's quite dark for Oak. I am now deciding the best way to use it.

Where we live the Street are not paved with Gold but the streets are lined with indiginous and exotic trees. Nearly every or every now and then we find a pile of branches or trunks on the nature strip waiting to be taken away. It was your day mate well done. I am still working through some beautiful Olive found this way.

I have tried mounting it but it is to big for my lathe, as they are odd shapes the lathe jumps all over the place, i will be seeing my mate with a chainsaw i will get the cut in half. Pice will be forthcoming.
