OK Steve the turning looks great nice and clean and finished well the only thing I don't like unfortunatley is the shape it is what many discribe as a dog bowl, As Bill said would be better if it was stained or ebonised to show the liming up. With Ash it is such a light coloured wood the liming does seem to get lost a little try something like a piece of darker Oak and you will see what I mean.
Just out of interest did you take the chucking point off
Thanks Derek.
Know what you mean about the shape... but that's the shape the wife wanted and after nearly 22 years of marriage - I have learnt that she is always right!!
This was my first experiment with liming and I used the first bowl blank I had with a grain that I thought would take it well. Unfortunately I have nothing to ebonise it with, so had to make do with the wood "au natural" so to speak. And it was just an experiment - learning every day!
I have turned the chucking point off this morning. Leaving a small foot - just enough to keep the base off the surface it sits on.
Thanks again for your comments and critique - always welcomed.
