After a club meeting on turning thin walled bowls I thought I would give it a go. Plus I broke out the dremel too and had a go at piercing too, quite please with the results [emoji1303]

It’s nice to experiment & it turned out a good job. The ideal thickness for piercing is about 2mm. It makes for easier piercing & helps to minimise burning.

I agree with Bills comment. Turning down to 2mm can take a little practice and needs to be done in steps. The most important is to complete each step to finish as once the piece is turned thin all the way down the last thing you wnt is to return back to where you have already made it thin as you will have problems the main one being chatter.

Anyway well done if you want to clean up the piercing a needle file is ideal even if it takes a while to do everyone.
