    Spalted Maple Platter

    Hi

Not too bad for a beginner I am thinking. A lot of sanding was needed. The finish on the top of the bowl is liquid acrylic which I need more practice with. I ran out of spray.

The ogee is not too bad but next time I would like to make it softer, slower and longer, if that makes sense. I am a happy little bunny about this one.

    Cheers,
    Frederick

UPSTAIRS and downstairs the bowl is filled with subtle colour and grain, like the concentric circles in the centre base Fred.Beaut spalting to draw attention a bonus. The spray coat is lovely.

There looks to have been a lot of thought gone into that bowl and the resultant shapes work very well with a great overall finish.....well done, very nice job

Having seen some of your earlier work in the flesh I can certainly say that the shapes have improved as well as the finish keep it up @Frederick

I think that is rather nice Frederick, quite subtle shaping and I like what you have detailed on the base.

Now that looks like a very nice bowl Frederick. I particularly like the undercut inside the bowl just under the rim, this casts a nice shadow. The shape & finish look good too. It’s nice to move along the learning curve. Well done.

Hi, Really like the shape, hope you don't mind if I attempt to make a similar one but I'll never be able to compete with your skills.
