Hi all,

I bough some bowl blanks that were advertised on Ebay............mistake.
I bought them some time ago and they have been kicking about the workshop for months so, as I have a day to myself, I thought I would turn a small bowl that I can finish today.

I mounted the blank and started to turn. Suddenly i found myself looking at a 9mm hole in the centre and thought it was wild life or rot or something similiar. I then worked out what had happened.

The price label had been stuck over the hole and therefore went un-noticed. I might have got away with it if I had mounted it the other way round..... mistake 2

Lesson for today then is....... don't turn blanks with labels on. What some people will do to sell something. I won't buy from fleabay any more. Waste of wood, money and time.

Rant over:rant:

Cheers
Frederick

Hello Mark

Dalboy has already contacted me. Stiles and Bates have a good name. I did email them sometime ago reference wood turning courses that they advertised, but didn't receive a reply though. I must admit though it is a fantastic place .

Turn a bowl and give it to an arborist. Tell him you are interested in wood big enough to turn bowls. You will probably get more than you can handle.

A quick cut and paste.

How long do you have to file a complaint with PayPal?
180 days
Yes. The first step is to open a dispute within 180 days of your payment and try to work out the problem with the seller through the Dispute Resolution process in the Resolution Centre. If you're unable to resolve the dispute, you can escalate it to a claim with PayPal within 20 days of the date the dispute was opened.

Too late for any redress through either eBay or PayPal I suppose?

The problem is Phil I can't remember when or from whom I bought it as it was so long ago. It could even be years . I know I can search my purchaces; maybe I will if patience and time permits.
I feel better just by having a rant about it.:banana:
