I've got quite a few bits to do but want none of it at the moment so just turned this.
The bark had had it and there was a straight cut on an upward branch so a bit of reshaping and pyro was in order!

No details in your post re timber etc,enjoyed seeing the burning result on the perimeter and the overall golden hue.

Sorry, it's cherry from the trunk / branch junction, 5" high x 7" at the widest point. Finished in chestnut finishing oil.

Very nice Neil. Cherry has some great colour too it nice job on blending the reshaped area

I have come back to this about 5 times now. The fake bark doesn't interest me as much as the wood itself, and I realised that this is why I don't like painted wood, after all nature does such a nice job in just creating such a beautiful figure and when it is shaped into a nice form it become so much nicer since you can see the inside as well.
