Ash clock - 4 inch diam dial
Cedar Platter/bowl - 13'' diam with ebony paint rubbed off before it dried to give a distressed finish. & a couple of coats of melamine spray lacquer.
Hawthorne clock - bought a decent sized bandsaw & cut up this log I'd had for a while - I was asked for a rustic clock so this was an ideal piece of wood & the customer loved it.

What grit did you take the chestnut on the clock to Steve and how many coats of lacquer? I've done a few clocks similar in yew but I just give them a few coats of danish oil as I feel that a shiny finish on a rustic clock would not look natural. Having seen your finish I'm not too sure now.

Hi all, thanks for the comments.
ATaylor - yes it can be used on pens, it can be used on anything.
Yorkshireman - I sand to 600 grit on most things but only if it needs it. As for how many coats of lacquer - the clock has 3, de-nibbed in between very lightly. Pens usually get the same, 2 or 3 coats of lacquer. Smells a lot better than CA & less harmful to your health.
