Bowl with Aluminium

This is a bowl I turned for our club night competition, the spec was ' bowl or vase with metal'.
The wood is Beli and .7mm aluminium plate as the inserts, 20cms diameter.
I got 3rd place with this.

The bowl looks very nice John, i really like how you have placed the aluminium plate to one side , it is very affective. :thumbs:

Terry, I cut the blank into slices on the bandsaw, sanded cut faces on disc sander, roughed up the ali with 80 grit and glued it together with 2-part epoxy.
It only fell apart once!!!, dont think I roughed the ali enough for the glue to key.

Thats a smart looking bowl John, i think 3 rows of Ally was just about right for the look, well done.

Very nice bit of turning mate, i have never worked with Beli but it looks nice wood. :thumbs:
