Was just finishing this bowl, made from steamed pear, when it decided it had had enough and jumped across the workshop :nonono:

I suppose I could make a trivet from the remainders :rolling:

The "ex-bowl" was 7 inches diameter, the sides were 1.5 inches tall and 0.075 inches thick. I left the base fairly thick as I wanted a bit of weight to it - I think it was that weight, coupled with my incompetence that caused the destruction :thinks:

When you are turning bowls you have to remember you are putting internal stresses on the wood. As the walls were fairly thin when the base started to "move" slightly due to the stresses then the walls would be the first point to give!!!
