On another forum I've seen spectacular results being achieved with a Dip coating called Diamond Clear Coat by KBS coatings in Australia. I've contacted the supplier and it is not available in the UK. Do others have any good experiences with dips that are available in the UK?

Look in the tutorial section where Les Elm has put some info. He uses the dipping method all the time. Not used it myself but he gets good results.

No, can't say I have. There seem to be quite a few "Diamond" products out there though. I used Ronseal Diamond hard floor paint in my cabin and it's proved to be hard wearing. I'm sure there's something suitable for use with the "Dip method" that's available in the UK. I expect it's a choice between spirit based Polyurethane and water based Acrylic?

I'll have to look into the KBS product to see which type it is in that case. Thank you

Does anyone know which is a better finish in a clear coat. Polyurethane based or Acrylic. This would be for pens.

Better in what sense Derek?

Higher gloss, harder wearing, easier to apply?
Gloss and wear would be my priorities. I'm willing to put in the work to achieve a top finish. I'm trying to find an alternative to CA as I get a severe reaction from it.

This is my Dipping Method.

Les
Thanks Les. The tutorial of yours I read the other day showed you using a dip method. Is the method attached now your preferred method?
You are certainly getting an exceptional finish
