A neighbour popped by with these (3/4" cast acrylic bar) which are apparently offcuts from his work. I wonder what you might do with them? Can't see a clear barrel pen looking very interesting ...

Why not wrap the tube ie. photo colour whatever you fancy you might have to polish the drill hole not impossible and worth a try

Definitely demonstrators, they look great with an easy conversion to an eye dropper and then holds lots more ink than a cartridge or piston, they look good with the ink swilling around the barrel. But they are a challenge to polish inside as good as the outside but your lathes and toys might make that easier, i had loads of trouble when i did one but i did use water clear casting resin i made myself so this might be easier.
