Fridge Pen bushing sizes

So I brought a fridge pen kit at the weekend for a Christmas present, having read the instructions I now find I need special bushings to turn this. I have a whole pile of different size bushings that I got when I brought some second hand gear, but I don't know the sizes I need. Can anyone advise ?

Never even seen a fridge pen kit does this mean it is a cool pen when complete:whistling:

Use calipers on what ? I was after someone else checking a set if they had them, then I could see if I have any that size or if not buy a set

Assuming you already have the kit then use calipers on the parts, if not then you'll probably need to wait until it's delivered.

I haven't seen that kit either.

You need to measure the diameters of the components. Your photo appears to show a two piece pen so there will likely be four components to measure. That will tell you the outside diameters of the bushes you will need to rummage for. However, you will also need to measure the inside of the tubes, then subtract about 0.05mm, which will tell you the outside diameters of the parts of the bushes that fit inside the tubes.

The alternative, if you can't find bushes either in your stockpile or anywhere to buy, is to turn the barrels between centres without the aid of bushes at all - which entails turning down to the diameter of the components, checking all the while with calipers - which is the reference to calipers that Bammer was making.

If you must use them then buy the correct ones is my advice. IAP use to have a PDF listing the sizes of tubes and the like if it is still available maybe someone can point you in the correct direction. I have added a old one

I do this with all of my pens as bushes wear over time

Over time I have collected heaps of bushes,if I am going to make a few I turn a pair of bushes to size from the kit parts. My best friends are my calipers I set up every pen turning time. Looking at the pen picture I would increase the barrel size on the left to give balance to the pen at the centre.
