Adapting a Rollester cap.

It was good to get the Cowells spinning. I also got some time on the Pantograph, using it as a mill.

BTW. I did notice that I left the key in the chuck.:guessed:

Great to see someone else use the little Cowells lathe, is it the 90me? I love mine though it doesn't get much use.

I made a couple of pin chuck a while ago but used mild steel rod, hope the ali is ok

I have a feeling I should of made it from something stronger. I will get some mild steel in stock for the future.
When I have tried the Ali I will report back.

The Cowells is a real beauty to use. It is the 90ME.

I suspect the ali is fine Paul, I used steel because that's what I had to hand. I made one out of oak a while ago and that worked so you shouldn't be concerned. Steel bolts can make good pin chucks btw.

I was gifted my Cowells 90me and quite a few accessories a good few years ago by a customer I'd done a few favours for. It had only been used a few times and was mint. the original invoices were with it so I know just how much it cost him and they are quite sought after.

The guys at Cowells are very helpful if you have any questions and it's still a family run business so they are very interested in the old machines.

Hi Paul love the impro stuff, together with the Video I love these by the way. You could give your device in Aluminium some strength using a 60 degree indent in the end and bringing up your tailstock and live centre, end of problem, Ali is so quick IMHO. By the way all that glitters can be Gold.

That looks a nice little lathe Paul. I have an Elliott Unimat lathe which converts to a pillar drill & milling table. I’ve had it since 1972 & it’s still going strong.

I made my pin chuck from silver steel and a 1/8" x 1" case hardened dowel pin. Same thing, same result.
