Fred your reason the original looks better in person indicates your lighting is not balanced,bit like a portrait where you place the light or lights is basic photography and direction of the light,colour temperature of the light.Suggest you methods. Seek out a camera group ask successful people in the UK to assist with their advice. Every light has a shadow. All the best mate.Every picture is received personally so basics need to be followed. Have success mate.
