Sagiters problem

I have just made my first Sagiters pen and there is a problem. The refill tip does not retract fully and when extended, it protrudes too far. I have made sure I have assembled the kit correctly, and I definitely have not removed too much when sanding the barrel square. I had bought two of these kits, so I compared the tube and all the other parts of each kit - everything was the same. When I contacted the supplier explaining the problem, they very kindly sent me two more kits, but all measurements were the same as the first ones. If the tubes were about 1mm longer, all would be well.

Has anyone else had a similar problem with this kit? I really like these apart from this, as there is plenty of room for tube in casting. The tubes I have measure 68.3mm long.

The only other logical thing is if the refill is not seating correctly or getting snagged.....have you swapped or tried swapping refills??
Well that's all I got!! If tube length isn't an issue it must be the refill??

Yep, forgot to mention I had changed the refill as well! The thing I keep coming back to is a bad batch. If someone could confirm the tube length, that would at least rule that out.

Mark has said it all really. It wouldn't be the first time that I have bought kits with incorrect tube lengths. Don't have that trouble with Beaufort Ink or Taylors MIrfield. Don't buy from anywhere else now.
Let us know when you have solved the problem and let us know what the problem was. Best of luck

Well I don't know if you would call it solving the problem, but I have found a workaround. I found that unscrewing the transmission two turns gives the 1mm movement that I need. There are about 6.5 turns to completely remove it, so I reckoned there were plenty of threads left to hold it in place. I used Loctite to secure it and all seems ok.
