I think you need more green in it, on your test piece it looks like scales growing out of the red.
What size hole have you drilled into it?

the red one is drilled to 7.5mm, length wise its half a slimline...not done the green one yet but its long enough for a complete slimline although im looking at a pewter dragon kit to put it on so will have to wait to see what size i need...maybe i could paint the tubes a darker green, not sure red would look ok...i dunno, its all experimentation at the mo
